Hans Christian Andersen (1805–1875) is the great Danish poet and writer whose creation is part of the golden fund of the world culture. His life is a feat of the person and the writer who had devoted fifty years of life to creativity. Andersen's literary heritage is extremely great, but he is worldly known thanks to his fairy tales.
The anniversary exposition “The great storyteller” contains about 80 editions: collections, memoirs, fairytales, single editions and literature about his life and creative career.
The offered exhibition presents Andersen's autobiography The Fairytale of My Life (a part of the Set of Works in 4 volumes, 2005) and also Selected Fairytales (1946) and The Snow Queen translated into the Belarusian language, collections of fairytales published in different years, single editions of The Ugly Duckling (1936), The Steadfast Tin Soldier (1947), Wild Swans (2013), Little Mermaid (2013), The Steadfast Tin Soldier (2013), Thumbelina (2013).
Editions about the writer’s creativity, life and outlook are on display.
The book published under the editorship of N.A. Vishnevskaya (2008) portrays Andersen as not only a storyteller but also a novelist, memorialist and artist.
The complete biography by L.Y. Braude (2008) is the first Belarusian study of the writer’s striking life, versatile creativity, collections of fairytales and stories and his journeys across Europe.
The book by I. Svechenkovskaya (2005) is about a difficult fate of the great storyteller who had persistently conquered the tops. Interesting facts of his life are described in the edition.
The exhibition is designed for wide audience.
The exposition is located on the 3rd floor in the circular corridor and will run from April 3rd to June 30th.
