The great Russian poet of the twentieth century, fine lyricist and connoisseur of the people’s soul is known and loved by our country. Poetics and melody of the works of the singer of Russian nature had a strong influence on the work of many Belarusian writers.
The first book of the poet, the beginning of his immortal fame was a collection of poems "Radunitsa", published in 1916. The book attracted the attention of readers, critics and recognized literary masters. "Everyone in one voice was saying that I’m a talent, – marked Yesenin in his "Autobiography " (1923). – I knew it better than others". Visitors can see the reprinted edition "Radunitsa" (1990) at the exhibition.
The basis of the Complete Works of Sergei Yesenin in seven volumes (2004) was laid down the three volumes of "Collected Poems", prepared by the author, where he consciously rejects formal chronology in favor of compositional considerations. Additional four volumes contain letters, autobiographies, inscriptions, folk records, literary manifestos, as well as a chronological outline of the life and work of Esenin, reference materials. All texts are without any gaps, strophes and lines that were banned by the censorship are restored. The drafters of the edition tried to avoid value judgments, assumptions and interpretations in order to ensure the scientific objectivity of the publication.
The creative biography of the poet, his short but very bright life is presented quite varied and diversified at the exposition. Quite a lot was and still is written about Yesenin. Such literature is still in demand, but not every version of the poet’s life can be trusted. I remember Words that Yesenin said sarcastically can be remembered: "They will write about me! They will write a lot about me!". The biographical edition "Lives of Outstanding People" by Stanislav and Sergei Kunyaev (2007), as well as the multi-volume edition of the Institute of World Literature named after Maxim Gorky of the Russian Academy of Sciences "The Chronicles of Life and Work of Esenin" (2003–2005) is undoubtedly credible.
The exhibition includes the novel by Vitaly Bezrukov "The Story of a murder", which presents emotional world the poet. This book was screened in TV series, starring the author’s son, actor Sergei Bezrukov.
Gorky, Mayakovsky, Tsvetaeva, Klyuyev, Gippius, Gorodetsky and other writers expressed their attitudes and feelings to the great Russian poet in the book "Yesenin" (1990).
