Walter Scott (1771–1832), the world-renowned British writer of Scottish descent, poet, historian, collector of antiquities, lawyer and founder of the genre of the historical novel, left a great literary heritage: more than 25 novels, novellas, short stories, poems and historical works. His writing is included in the golden fund of world literature.
The exhibition presents the lifetime editions of the author: The History of Scotland (Petersburg, 1831), The Field of Waterloo (Moscow, 1827) and Vie de Napoleon Buonaparte (Paris, 1827).
The Collected Works in 16 volumes are also on display.
The book by the well-known British literary critic and biographer Hesketh Pearson Walter Scott, published in the series "Life of Remarkable People", describes in detail the writer’s way of life and deeply explores his psychological portrait, revealing his diverse creative relationships with native Scotland.
