The National Library of Belarus, the UN depository library
In December, 1957, the National Library of Belarus joined the global network of the United Nations depository libraries. It keeps a unique collection of documents of the United Nations Organization and other international organizations. The Library’s stock receives editions from six UN governing bodies: the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, the Trusteeship Council, the International Court of Justice, the Secretariat and also documents of related committees, commissions, subcommittees and conferences. Besides the Library is a depository of specialized institutions and independent organizations in the United Nations system:
- International Labour Organization;
- United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (depository since 1956);
- International Atomic Energy Agency;
- World Bank (depository since 2007);
- World Intellectual Property Organization (depository since 2010).
The Library also receives documents and materials of the Council of Europe (depository from 1997 to 2002), the European Union, the Organization on Security and Cooperation in Europe, NATO, the World Health Organization, the International Monetary Fund, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development etc.
