The massive open online courses (MOOCs) is a form of distance learning. This interactive training courses on various subjects are developed by leading world universities and companies and placed on special websites – the educational Internet platforms – Coursera, EdX, Udacity, FutureLearn, Khan Academy etc.
The name MOOC is formed of four terms:
As a rule, the course includes video lectures, study of recommended learning material and execution of control tasks. On the basis of the course there are forums where you can communicate with other students and ask questions to the teacher. Usually, the training program is designed for 1–2 months and requires 2 to 15 hours of occupation per week. At the end of the course students have a final exam which allows evaluating the acquired knowledge.
After finishing the full course and successfully passing the final exam, you can get a certificate or confirmation of course completion on behalf of the University providing the courses you mastered.
