Ivashkevich, Vyacheslav (later Vaclav-Theodor Ivashkevich-Rudoshansky)

7 Вячеслав Витальевич Ивашкевич.jpg Vyacheslav Ivashkevich (later Vaclav-Theodor Ivashkevich-Rudoshansky) (1871–1922) was a military leader, major general of the Russian Imperial Army, later the divisional general of the Polish Army.

He was born in Omsk. His father was a Belarusian nobleman and participant in the 1863 uprising, who had been expelled from Vitebsk province.

He graduated from the Siberian Cadet Corps (1890) and Pavlovsk Military School (1892) and reached the ranks of lieutenant (1895), staff captain (1900), captain (1905), lieutenant colonel (1904), major general (1915), lieutenant general (1918).

He fought in the First World War as commander of the 54th Siberian Rifle Regiment (1914) and commander of the brigade of the 3rd Siberian Rifle Division (1915–1917). He led the Finnish Border Combined Division (1917), and the 3rd Polish Rifle Division of the 1st Polish Corps, which was formed in the town of Elnya, Smolensk Province (1917).

The combat experience of Vyacheslav Ivashkevich was highly appreciated by the Polish Army (where the general took the name Vatslav-Theodor Ivashkevich-Rudoshansky). As a lieutenant general, he led the Lithuanian-Belarusian division, formed under his leadership (1918–1919).
