Korotkevich, Nikolay

12 Николай Николаевич Короткевич.jpg Nikolay Korotkevich (1859–?) was a lieutenant-general of the Russian Imperial Army. Born in a hereditary noble family, Minsk province, he graduated from Polotsk military gymnasium (1877), the 2nd Military Konstantin School (1879), and Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff (1888).

He reached the ranks of lieutenant (1880), lieutenant (1883), staff captain (1888), captain (1890), lieutenant colonel (1894), major general (1905), lieutenant general (1914).

At the beginning of the First World War he led the 1st Finnish Infantry Brigade (1910–1914). Later he was appointed as commander of the 40th Infantry Division (1914–1915). He participated in the campaign in East Prussia (1914) and the battle of Gumbinnen. From 1915 to 1917, he led the 36th Army Corps.
