Lurye, Mikhail

Lurye, Mikhail

Mikhail Lurye (1865–1916) was a major general. Born in a burgher family, Mogilev province, he graduated from the 6th Moscow Gymnasium and Riga Junior Cadet School. He reached the ranks of lieutenant (1889), lieutenant (1893), headquarters (1899), captain (1901), lieutenant colonel (1909), colonel (1915), major general (1916, posthumously). He fought in the First World War as the commander of the 128th Starooskolsky Infantry Regiment (1915–1916) and was killed by a shell break at the command post.
