Radkevich, Yevgeny

27 Евгений Александрович Радкевич.jpg Yevgeny Radkevich (1851–1930) was a commander, general of infantry. Born in a hereditary noble family, Vitebsk province, he graduated from Polotsk Military Gymnasium, the 2nd Konstantinovsk Military School and Nikolaev Engineering School (1872). He reached the ranks of lieutenant (1872), lieutenant (1873), staff captain (1876), captain (1878), lieutenant colonel (1889), colonel (1894), major general (1902), lieutenant-general (1907). He was appointed general of infantry with dismissal with uniform and pension in 1912. However, at the beginning of the First World War he came out of retirement to serve as the commander of the 3rd Siberian Army Corps, which became part of the 10th Army. He participated in battles in East Prussia (1914) and was appointed commander of the 10th Army (1915). After the February Revolution, he was appointed assistant commander-in-chief in Petrograd military district under the command of General Kornilov. After Kornilov’s departure, Radkevich began to fulfill his duties as commander-in-chief. He retired in 1918.
