On 16 October 2014, President of Republic of Belarus Аlexander Lukashenko signed the Decree № 495 About the proclamation 2015 as the Year of Youth.
The Council of Ministers issued the republican plan of events for the Year of Youth in 2015 (Resolution № 1228, 23 December 2014).
With the purpose of providing access to actual and socially significant information on Belarus for the Belarusian Diaspora and business, public and scientific circles, in 2015 the National Library also created the resource "Belarus in Information Space". Also within the bounds of the Year of Youth the library presented its own virtual project ”Fashion and time” which features digital copies of books, magazines, photos and video records reflecting world fashion trends from the XVI century to present day.
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, the National Library prepared the Internet-project "The Memory of Flaming Years", the multimedia CD "Underground and Partisan Press in Belarus", book exhibitions “A hymn to national courage”, “Not to forget: the Great Patriotic War in works of Belarusian writers”, “Underground and partisan press of Belarus”, “Young girls taking the field”, art exhibitions “The Great Patriotic War in photos by BelTA and TASS press photographer Vladimir Lupeyko”, ”Military posters of 1941–1945”, “WARSTORY.BY. The peace generation about peace and war”, and also a video conference ”The long way home”.
In 2015, Svetlana Alexievich became the first Belarusian writer to receive the Nobel Prize in literature. The National Library developed the slide-show and the book exhibition dedicated to the Belarusian writer and journalist.
