2016 – the Year of Culture

On 28 December 2015, the President of the Republic of Belarus A.G. Lukashenko signed the Decree № 522 ”Аб аб’яўленні 2016 года Годам культуры” (“About the Proclamation of 2016 as the Year of Culture”).

By decision of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus № 51 of 25 January 2016, the republican agenda on the Year of Cullture is adopted.

We offer the advice on how to observe the Year of Culture (for libraries).

In 2016 we have celebrated the 120th anniversary of the birth of the Belaruian fabulist, writer, playwright, linguist and public figure Kandrat Krapiva (Kandrat Atrakhovich). The National Library of Belarus offers the electronic edition "Верай і праўдай прайшоў праз эпоху" (He faithfully went through the era) and the electronic presentation timed to this historical date.

In the Year of Culture the National Library has hosted the awarding ceremony of the international literary competition “Happiness is reached only on the way…” The librarian of the special collections department is among the winners.
