On December 15th, 2009, at the National Library of Belarus took place the opening of a photo exhibition “A glance at Iran” which was organized with the support of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Belarus.


Seyyed Abdullah Hosseini, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Barzin, the chairman of the Organization of cultural heritage, people’s handicraft and tourism of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Roman Motulsky, the director of National Library of Belarus participated in the event.

Iranian photographers have captured all natural and cultural variety of their native land. At the exhibition visitors can touch the history, culture and traditions of Iran and see unique objects included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

At the concert, which took place within the framework of the event, visitors enjoyed Iranian poetry and music of various peoples of Iran performed by the group “Rastak”. The musicians play the national instruments, such as tor, setar and daf.

The photo exposition located in the gallery “Panorama” of National Library of Belarus (the 22nd floor) is open till January 29th, 2010.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
