On January 24, the library hosted the grand opening of the photo exhibition “invisible heroes”, organized jointly with the public charity organization “Belarusian Children's Hospice”.

The purpose of the exhibition is to draw attention to the problem of children's diseases and hospice activities, to support patients and their families, to acquaint the general public with the problems of such families through strong and deep photographic images. The exhibition was carried out thanks to the talent of photographers Ksenia Legovich (volunteer, student) and Ulyana Kazakevich (hospice employee), who organized the photography on a charitable basis.

The exhibition features portraits of hospice wards, who appear in the images of Belarusian mythical characters, heroes of Belarusian fairy tales. 45 photos are small windows into the world of dreams and hope, the world of strong support, strength and wisdom of traditional folk culture. Once upon a time, each of the mythical characters of the photos was asked for help. People also became their victims and thanked them for help and support. Each powerful essence of the ancient Belarusian folklore possessed not only magical abilities, but also a difficult character. Both the external features and the character of mythical creatures are conveyed by the characters vividly, expressively, eloquently and picturesquely. 9 real heroes become 9 mythical entities represented in the photo series.

The deep wisdom and power of Belarusian mythology is shared with those who embody it, strive to understand and be inspired. The dangerous Lake Girl performed by Ekaterina Lyashko beckons with beauty, but also conveys the inner power of the heroine, her dominion over dark waters and life. Bai, embodied by Andrey Sivakov, is supposedly full of knowledge of the ages, he will surely lull you to sleep after suffering difficulties and adversities. Roman Kukresh's image of Eunice turned out to be very natural - a peasant's hut, a sheaf of rye, a dashing moustache – he will closely monitor so that residents do not shirk from work.

New Year's Eve, fabulous, amazing Zyuzya performed by Maxim Boychenko. The smile of little Zyuzi convinces that all his New Year's wishes will definitely come true. The figure of the Hatter looks mysterious. Maxim Backus managed to get into the role so much that twilight, lantern, cloak and the general mood of photography make a very fantastic impression – supposedly a will-o'-the-wisp or a werewolf.

The image of the Snake King Herman Solomatin is extremely impressive. Tall, powerful trees, a crown, clear facial features, a ring and a throne... the king can teach you to speak the language of animals, but do not try to take away his crown by cunning - the snake army will definitely avenge such an insult. A very emotional series allows you to believe and imagine how the noble, genuine power of the forest, its crowns, trunks helps the guy overcome all difficulties.

The dragon of Makar Rudnitsky shines and sparkles emerald - a mystical creature, the hero of fairy tales and legends, who is subject to everything, especially in 2024, the year of the green wooden dragon according to the Chinese calendar.

Myths about "invisible heroes" eventually become fairy tales and live next to people who do not believe, do not notice the mystique of objects and nature, cannot see them, but from time to time feel their presence. In the same way, the presence of people with disabilities is unnoticeable, although overcoming extreme difficulties on a daily basis is a real miracle.

The photo exhibition "Invisible heroes" claims that not noticing is not an option. It is very important not to forget about those who are nearby, to be attentive and empathetic – and learn to see a miracle in everyday life.

The event was attended by Director Anna Gorchakova and head of the Department for attracting resources Yulia Kamogortseva of the Belarusian Children's Hospice public charity organization, Tatyana Boychenko, mother of Maxim Boychenko.

The material was provided by the Public Relations Department.
