On November 27, 2007, in National Library of Belarus opened an exhibition presenting reproductions of works by Napoleon Orda form National Museum in Warsaw collections. The exhibition is organized by Polish Institute in Minsk and National Library of Belarus.

Works by Napoleon Orda represent images of Rzecz Pospolita in the 19th century. They combine all artistic trends of that epoch: romanticism which aspires to artistic beauty, historicity and patriotism which show national monuments, and inventory trend which retains the appearance of historical monuments.
Orda drew town panoramas and concentrated the attention on a single motive or edifice. Architectural landscapes by Napoleon Orda are revived by staffage – pictures of people which walk, sit on benches, swim or work on a river-bank. The artist minutely reproduced architectural forms and details, sensed proportions and noted seasonal peculiarities of a landscape.Though some pictures are signed as “drawn from nature”, they are obviously repainted from earlier pictures and engravings of other artists.
Today the historicity of works by Napoleon Orda is especially valuable. The artist retained the appearance of towns, villages, temples, palaces, castles, and manors which no more exist or remain seriously damaged.
The exhibition is open until December 29, 2007. Location: Nezavisimosty Avenue, 116, the third floor, mobile gallery.
