On October, 14th, an opening ceremony of Vladimir Akulov’s painting exhibition dedicated to the artist’s 60th birth anniversary was held at the gallery “Panorama” (22nd floor).

Vladimir Akulov is an outstanding representative of the “second wave” of Belarusian avant-guarde art. During his studies on the faculty of graphic arts at the Vitebsk State Pedagogical University V. Akulov communicated with artist and teacher Alexander Solovyov who had a profound influence on his formation as a person and painter.

“Akulov’s art is very recognizable”, deputy director for information resources of the National Library of Belarus Tatyana Kuzminich said at the opening ceremony. “We are grateful to our Motherland for the great talents she gives us. And I hope the opening of the following exhibition will inspire the artist to create new masterpieces”.

“Akulov, even during the golden age of avant-guarde art, was not similar to anybody, – art critic Larissa Finkelstein said. – “His painting is remarkable for the boldness and independence of styles and canons owing to what we can see a very different talented artist”. The expert told to guests of the exhibition that the master’s works of different years were on display, including Vladimir Akulov’s “first love” for the creativity of eminent European artists and his mature masterpieces.

Vladimir Akulov, being a keen and searching person, has travelled all over the former Soviet Union from Tyumen and Krasnodar up to the Crimean Koktebel and worked in Germany, Belgium and Italy. Moreover, series of his paintings are kept in Germany, Belgium and the USA.
