From З September 01, 2007 to September 30, 2007 in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 205) is open a book exhibition "Bells of the Memory" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Ales Adamovich (1927 - 1994), the writer, literary critic, and public figure.


The exhibition presents over 250 editions which reveal the writer's talent and spiritual world. He wrote in Belarusian and Russian languages. The writer expressed his pacific inspirations in his works and lections. At the age of 15 the author survived the war, he was a partisan, that because the most part of his books are dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, warfare against the Nazi invaders, courage and firmness of people. At the exhibition are exposed different works by Ales Adamovich dedicated both to the war and issues of the modern world, as well as scientific works on literary criticism and the autobiographic novel "Vіхі".

Belarusian people are grateful to Ales Adamovich for his attitude towards the Chernobyl catastrophe, which is revealed in collected works by the author.

The exhibition includes the following sections: "Works by Ales Adamovich", "Ales Adamovich and the Art", and "Dedication to the Writer".

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
