From June 11tj to August 20th, a thematic book exhibition “In the world of Belarusian sci-fi” within the bounds of the republican action “The summer with a good book” runs in the National Library of Belarus (2nd flor, circular corridor).
The genre of fantasy possesses a special ability to call the reader to think and feel. The depth and breadth of thoughts, an aggravated emotionality are the properties of this genre attracting the largest writers during all the history of literature.
The National Library of Belarus offers an exposition including about 200 documents: reference books, encyclopedias, fiction, collected works of Belarusian writers with fantastic stories and novels.
The exhibition consists of three subject sections.
The first section “The history of fantasy” presents books about the development of the genre of fantasy during last century: encyclopedias, monographs, etc.
The section “The origins of Belarusian fantasy” includes books by Belarusian authors of the XIX–XX centuries in the genre in fantasy or with elements of fantasy – Y. Mavr, Y. Barshchevsky and others.
The section “Modern Belarusian fantasy” features fantastic novels, stories and fairytales of modern Belarusian writers: А. Kozlov, V. Maslyukov, Y. Brayder and N. Chadovich, S. Danilov, V. Gavrilov, N. Cherginets, R. Borovikova, L. Rublevskaya, N. Novash etc. Works of different genres (sci-fi, fantasy, magic realism, horror) are on display.
The exhibition is designed for a wide audience and will help readers to choose good books for summer reading.
