Book-illustrative exhibition “Sport. Components of Victories” timed to the 2nd European Games is opened within the framework of the exhibition project “Sporty Belarus”.

Sport is the people’s activity organized according to certain rules, which implies a comparison of their physical and intellectual abilities, as well as preparation for this activity and interpersonal relations arising in its process. Usually sport is a specific kind of physical or intellectual activity, performed for the purpose of competition, as well as improving health, obtaining moral and material satisfaction, striving for perfection and glory.

The first section of the exhibition “Science to Win” contains scientific and methodological publications on the economy, administration and culture of sports. The section also contains books on sports medicine, sports nutrition, psychological and physical training of athletes for highest achievements.

The next section of the exhibition, “Book-coach”, is obvious. In addition to the collectible book series of the same name, it presents well-illustrated publications with rules and physical training programs, strategies and tactics for mastering such sports as football, hockey, jogging, swimming, tennis, golf, etc. The author’s training methods are also presented.

The name of the central section was the famous quote “Oh, sport! You are Peace!” by Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympics. The section contains motivational quotes and books by famous people − athletes, philosophers, poets, writers − about freedom, spirit, desire to win and benefits of physical activity.

Also, visitors will see photos by Lev Borodulin, a real legend of sports photography, and an art work in the pop-up book style by a student of the Minsk State Gymnasium-College of Arts named after A. Vojtik depicting part of the main avenue of Minsk.

The last section of the exhibition, “Sports Stories”, contains thematical non-fiction, biographical, literary and artistic publications about the Olympics, famous athletes and certain sports. The series "Library of Sports Prose" and "Sport and Personality" are presented.

The development and change of sports throughout human history can tell a lot about social changes in society in general and about the essence of sports in particular.

The end date of the exhibition can be changed.
