The exhibition from our collection of graphic documents "Белыя сыплюцца долу крышталікі…" ("White crystals fall down...") where there are works dedicated to the winter landscape, runs in the Fine arts reading room (306) from December 22 to January 10.
The beauty of the winter nature mesmerizes. Winter in the pictures is a fairy time of serene splendor, when the nature is sleeping and has a rest under a snow-white blanket. The frost and the sun, liveliness of a good winter day, the beauty of the vast distances, the feeling of the squeaky snow.
The winter along with the spring and the autumn is a favorite season of many artists. The Russian artists create wonderful landscapes: I. Levitan, K. Yuon, A. Plastov, I. Grabar, A. Rylov, K. Korovin, A. Gritsay and many others.
The winter city in the picture of B. Kustodiev "Maslenitsa" is toylike, beautiful and well decorated. The work reflects a purely Russian mentality, based on a special love for the poetic and colorful winter provincial town. The enravishment with the sunlight, which sparkles and shines all around, always inspired I. Grabar. The artist elevates the motive of the sunny snowy landscape as a truly original image of the beauty of the Russian nature. Close to the I. Grabar’s painting was the work of K. Yuon. Sunny winter landscapes, blue and purple shadows on the snow are in the pictures.
Landscapes of the Belarusian artists are a significant part of the exposition, including L. Ščamialioǔ, V. Bialynicki-Biarulia, A. Barchatkaǔ.
Reproductions of foreign artists that reveal the beauty of the winter landscape: C. Monet, H. Avercamp and others, add the exposition.
The exposition presents more than 50 documents, including albums of reproductions, postcards, books and articles.
