On October 28, the library hosted an anniversary celebration honouring People's Writer of Belarus, Honorary Chairman of the Writers' Union of Belarus, statesman and politician Nikolai Cherginets' 85th birthday.

Igor Buzovsky, Deputy Minister of Information of the Republic of Belarus, Artem Tsuran, Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, and Liliya Ananich, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, all came to congratulate Nikolai Ivanovich on the wonderful date. Heads of state administrative bodies, representatives of diplomatic missions and public organisations, colleagues, friends, family, and friends congratulated the day's hero. The joyous evening was adorned with a concert programme featuring well-known performers who have been friends with Nikolai Ivanovich for many years.

The event's emotional tone was set by exhibitions dedicated to the life and artistic path of the day's hero. The guests were shown images from the author's personal archive as well as books from the National Library of Belarus's collections.

The People's Writer of Belarus planted an oak tree in the Writers' Park on the night of the anniversary event. The park was founded on the initiative of N.I. Cherginets and has become a symbol of the Belarussian capital.
