On March 27, the V.I. Lenin Mogilev Regional Library and the Centralized System of city public libraries in Mogilev conducted a workshop on labor regulation as part of professional development of their staff.

The chief librarian at the library and information technologies department of the National Library of Belarus, Svetlana Kozlova, addressed the seminar. She gave a multimedia presentation on "Standardizing technological processes in the library" and highlighted the theoretical aspects of modern normative approach to the organization of labor: the goals and objectives of standardization, legislative framework, main types of labor standards, methods of regulation, and also told about the database of the National Library "Standard Working Hours".

The attendees learned how to create an instruction on regulating library and information processes and got acquainted with the rules of maintaining flowcharts of library and information processes, operations, elements, etc. The questions of the specificity of labor standardization in the automation sector, document processing departments and reader service were discussed.

The workshop contributed to the formulation of time standards reflecting the practice of a particular library, which is undoubtedly important for the annual planning of library activities, determining the working time budget of each employee and assessing the efficiency of using human resources in the library.
