In 2024, the socio-political, literary and artistic magazine for women "Alesya" ("Rabodnitsa i Syalyanka") turns 100 years old.
On the pages of the first issue this year, the project "Alesya" – 100: women, stories, covers", dedicated to the anniversary date, was launched. In a series of photo stylizations, journalists of "Alesya" will show modern Belarusian women in the images of heroines of different professions and periods of the Soviet era throughout the year. At the same time, it is planned to use the same compositional and creative techniques that were on the old covers in order to bring the frame as close as possible to the original.
We are pleased that our employee, the leading librarian of the department of storage of specialized funds, Svetlana Mileyko, became the first participant in this project. And the "prototype" for the photo stylization was the heroine of the cover No. 9 "Rabodnitsa i Syalyanka" for 1986 – the chief librarian of the reading room of the Belarusian Institute of Agricultural Mechanization, Rosa Somova.
Answering the questions of the special correspondent of the magazine Yulia Romankova, Svetlana shared with the readers of "Alesya" why she became a librarian, how she works in the main library of the country, told about her unusual hobby and who is looking forward to publication in this issue of the magazine.
Information about the journals available in the library's collection can be found in the electronic catalog of the National Library of Belarus.
