On May 15, Director General of the National Library of Belarus Vadzim Hihin took part in the International Conference of CIS Librarians “Library Community: Partnership and Innovation”, which was held within the framework of the Interstate Program “Samarkand – the Cultural Capital of the CIS – 2024”.

The Khokim of the Samarkand region Erkinjon Turdimov, First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bahadir Akhmedov, Director of the Information and Mass Communications Agency under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Asajon Khojaev, Director General of the Russian State Library, President of the non-profit partnership Library Assembly of Eurasia addressed the participants of the meeting Vadim Duda.

The conference was attended by representatives of the Azerbaijan National Library named after M.F. Akhundov, the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Library of the Kyrgyz Republic named after A.Osmonov, the Russian State Library, the Russian State Children's Library, the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi, etc.

During the plenary session, Vadzim Hihin spoke about the activities of the National Library of Belarus for the preservation of historical memory and donated to the collections of the Alisher Navoi National Library of Uzbekistan and the A.S. Pushkin Information and Library Center of the Samarkand region publications dedicated to the Belarusian offensive operation Bagration and the national parks of Belarus.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
