The evening function timed to the Belarusian Written Language Day was held in the Business and Cultural Complex of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation on September, 14th.


During the event, the book exhibition “The best books of Belarus” from the collections of the National Library of Belarus was presented.

The exhibition acquainted the guests with thematic scientific, literary and facsimile publications related with the history of Belarusian literature and publishing, as well as printed editions, winners of the annual national competition "The Art of the Book " in the last five years.

A section of the exhibition was dedicated to the winners of the National Literary Prize. It presented the most famous works of the award initiator, chairman of the Union of Writers of Belarus, co-chairman of the Union of Writers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Belarus Nikolai Cherginets. That is why the event was held in the format of the literary evening with writer Nikolai Cherginets.

During the evening function guests enjoyed music by People’s Artist of Belarus, composer Eduard Hanok and string quartet of Mogilev Regional Philharmonic Gold String Quartet.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
