On October 27, the Gomel Regional Universal Library named after V.I. Lenin hosted the opening of the photo exhibition "National Library of Belarus".
The mobile exhibition is one of the projects in the programme of Belarus's main library commemorating the 100th anniversary of its founding, and it continues a series of cultural events commemorating the milestone.
Vibrant photographs by famous Belarusian photographers introduce the viewer to a new chapter in the National Library's centennial history - a new building, whose unique image is created by interesting architectural solutions, artistic and decorative design, special light colour, volume and depth of spaces.
Anastasia Maslovskaya, Head of the Section for Library Activity Monitoring and Coordination of the Library Science Department of the National Library of Belarus, attended the inauguration of the picture show. She complimented the managers of the Gomel Regional Universal Library for hosting the photo exhibition and offering an opportunity to acquaint Gomel people to the original building of the National Library and its architecture in her welcoming remarks. "Behind each creative piece in the show is a modern history of the library conveyed in photographic art language. The authors were able to seamlessly blend multiple viewpoints of the library into one image, the image of a modern information and socio-cultural centre of the country, a unique storehouse of national documents, using photography," Anastasia Yurievna stated.
The event was held within the framework of the international forum of librarians "We are united by the Book", which is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of cooperation between libraries in Gomel and Bryansk regions.
Presentations of the photo project dedicated to the anniversary of the main library of the country were also held in Brest, Vitebsk, Orsha.
