From October 29th to November 2nd, in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) there was held a National Information-Library Week INFOLIB-2012 dedicated to the opening of a new building of the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi.


Representatives of the Parliament, Ministerial Council, Administration of the President, employees of library-information institutions of the country took part in the solemn opening of the Information-Library Week. As part of the INFOLIB-2012, a number of events were held: a conference “Betger’s lectures-2012”, a round table “Through time and space”, creative actions, book exhibitions, presentations of leading companies etc.

Director of the National Library of Belarus of R.S. Motulsky participated in the work of the Information-Library Week. At the opening ceremony of the forum he delivered a salutatory speech on behalf of the Noncommercial Partnership “The Library Assembly of Eurasia” and also took part in the scientifically-practical conference “User: a step towards” with his report “The National Library of Belarus as an element of an information infrastructure of society”.

During the conference participants got acquainted with the organization of library business in the country and the activities of the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
