On October 22nd –23rd, 2009, in National Library of Belarus was held the International conference “Renaissance in Belarus” dedicated to the history and culture of Italy and influence of the Italian Renaissance on Belarus.
The conference had been prepared by the Embassy of Italy to the Republic of Belarus and National Library of Belarus.
Experts in history, literature, art, architecture and town-planning from Belarus, Italy, Poland and Lithuania took part in the scientific forum. The conference was held with the participation of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to the Republic of Belarus Julio Prijoni, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to the Republic of Belarus Henric Litvin, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to the Republic of Belarus Edminas Bagdonas.
Belarus was represented at the forum by scientists and experts from the biggest Belarusian universities and research organizations: National Library, National Academy of Sciences, Belarusian State University etc.
Participants of the conference delivered papers dedicated to Queen Bona Sforza and her role in the history, as well as influence of the Italian Renaissance upon political, economic and cultural life of the great Duchy of Lithuania, and heritage of the Renaissance in literature, art, architecture and town-planning.
