During the jolliest holidays – New Year and Christmas – dreams and wishes come true. The excursion for orphaned children from children’s homes of family types was organized in the Library on December 17.


Children of the Gavrichenko and the Kulikov families dreamt about the visit to the National Library. They wrote it in their wish lists.

Workers of the Library Excursions Department prepared a surprise for children. The excursion with the visit of the Book Museum and the observation platform was held by the Snow Maiden. The program also included different tasks of the Snow Maiden.

The guests acquainted with the architectural peculiarities of the Library, work of reading rooms, system of documents delivery. Boys and girls admired panel pictures in circular corridors that create an unforgettable image of the main book depositary of the country. Children got acquainted with rare books, manuscripts and publications of Francysk Skaryna of the Prague period in the Book Museum.

Another surprise was waiting for kids at the observation platform: Santa Claus greeted them. Of course, guests received gifts – sweets and balloons. At the end of the excursion children enjoyed the panorama of the city.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
