On February, 26th the National Library hosted a presentation of the new edition Vladimir Slobodchikov. Sculpture published by the Publishing House Zvyazda with support of the Ministry of Information of Belarus.
The album includes images of sculptures made by the talented creator.
“Today I’m opening the event with a very special feeling because Vladimir Slobodchikov is one of authors of the Library’s design, and his works decorate the second floor of the building. His book is a great and valuable present for us”, deputy director Elena Dolgopolova said at the presentation.
The author told how he had been writing the book and in what way the sculptures had been created. Guests learned about the master’s creative career.
Vladimir Slobodchikov is a honored art worker of Belarus, a member of the British Royal Society of Sculptors, a honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts. Since 1989 he has been a head of the faculty of sculpture at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. His sculptures are on display not only in Belarusian museums, but also in art galleries and museums of Russia, Switzerland, Italy, the USA, China etc.
Representatives of the Publishing House Zvyazda and the sponsor company Softline addressed their warm words and best wishes to Vladimir Slobodchikov. Book designer Alexander Kulazhenko told about his work on the album illustrations.
Within the bounds of the event guests could visit an exhibition of editions dedicated to Belarusian and foreign sculpture.
Young musicians from the Gymnasium-College of Arts named after I.V. Ahremchik supported a lyrical mood of the event.
