On 6 December, a solemn event timed to the 20th anniversary of the publishing house Four Quarters as well as the action on the donation of books to the National Library of Belarus was held in the Conference Hall.


The organizers of events were the publishing house Four Quarters, the Belarusian Writers’ Union and the National Library of Belarus.

The solemn event devoted to the 20th anniversary of the publishing house will be kind of summarizing of work for the last years and a memorable meeting with authors, friends, colleagues and partners.

The event brought together representatives of organizations, agencies, institutions, foreign embassies in the Republic of Belarus, foreign guests as well as public figures, writers, artists, composers, musicians and the publisher’s collaborators. In a festive concert visitors enjoyed performances of leading country’s groups, soloists of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus, children’s ensembles, poets, bards, etc.

This event also included the donation of the book Belaya Rus s serediny I tysyacheletiya do serediny XIII veka (White Russia from the middle of the 1st millennium to the middle of the 13th century) by E. Zagorulsky to the National Library of Belarus. The action was held with the participation of the author as well as Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus A. Tozik and President of Priorbank S. Kostyuchenko who had supported this edition.

The publishing house Four Quarters is well known not only in Belarus, but also abroad. For 20 years it has initiated many book series aimed at reviving and supporting of important themes for Belarus. A series "Our spiritual values" (since 1995) including the full-color book-albums helps readers to navigate in the world of the Orthodox faith and culture. In its articles and photographs a series "A person and an hour" tells the story of the life and work of outstanding cultural figures of Belarus. A series "The Children of War" includes works by both professional writers and poets, and memories of the participants of the Great Patriotic War.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
