The curtain falls: laureates of the contest "Francysk Skaryna and present day" are announced

The festive ceremony of contest winners awarding took place on October 18 in the Library.

The director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulski, deputy chief executive of Belarusbank, Vladimir Zanko, director of the Republican theatre of Belarusian drama Vladimir Karachevski delivered greeting speeches.

Thirty two dramas from different Belarusian, Russian, Ukrainian and Polish towns were offered for participation in the contest of the works for the drama theatre "Francysk Skaryna and present day". Winners managed to present and uncover from many sides the image of Skaryna as a thinker, a scientist, a humanist-enlightener, a person.

Seven plays, two of which are from Polotsk, one from Brest and four from Minsk, became the winners of the contest. The competent jury headed by the art director of the RTBD Alexander Gartsuev chose winners in three nominations: "A historical play", "A modern play" and "A stage idea". These who win the main and two encouragement prizes in each nomination were announced at the ceremony.

The winners of the main awards became: in the nomination "A historical play" − Timothy Ilievski (Францыск. Прыпавесць, Brest); in the nomination "A modern play" − Nikolai Rudkovski (Доктор свободных наук, Minsk); in the nomination "A stage idea" − Sergei Kovalev (Юдзіф, Minsk).

Diplomas of the first degree were awarded: in the nomination "A historical play" − Sergei Shydlovski and Iryna Andreeva (Вiры своя, Polotsk), and Mikhail Turunovski (Я прынёс вам слова!, Brest); in the nomination "A modern play" − Viktor Martinovich (Карьера доктора Рауса, Minsk).

Diploma of the second degree in the nomination "A modern play" was given to Elena Ivaniushenko (Скорина. Бета-версия, Minsk).

Best contest works will be published, and plays-winners are planned to be presented not only in Belarusian theatres, but in foreign cities where Skaryna lived and worked.
