The National Library of Belarus invites all persons concerned to attend the solemn opening of the X International Bibliological Conference “Book culture of Belarus of the 16th – middle of the 17th centuries: to the 440th anniversary of the Mamonichs’ publishing activities”.


The event is prepared by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus.

The Bibliology Lectures are dedicated to the 440th anniversary from the date of foundation of the Mamonichs’ printing house which is one of the most outstanding Belarusian publishing centers of the 16th and the early 17th centuries. Lecturers from Belarus, Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland and Czechia will take part in the conference. Recognized scientists will present results of the latest research on the history of publishing activities of Francisc Skorina and Pyotr Mstislavets, the Mamonichs’ printing house and traditions of Belarusian book culture of the 16th–19th centuries.

The opening ceremony and plenary sessions take place on April 17, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the conference hall of the National Library of Belarus (side entrance on the right, 2nd floor, auditorium 256 b).

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.
