On May 14–15, 209, in National Library of Belarus was held the XVI Conference of ministers of education of member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) “Vocational training and education for a sustainable development”.
The aims of the Conference were to improve vocational training for meeting the educational needs of citizens and demands for human resources conditioned by economic circumstances and social environment of member states of the CIS by experience exchange and development of education on international and regional levels.
Representatives of the Ministries of Education of Belarus, Latvia, Estonia, and Poland, Intergovernmental Statistic Committee of the CIS, the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, the UNESCO International Bureau of Education and the World Bank participated in the Conference.
The following issues were discussed at the Conference: drawing up an inventory of contractual and legal basis of cooperation in the field of education, drawing up a plan of cooperation for distance education technologies development, and project agreement for training, retraining and raising the level of professional skill of professors working in universities of member states of the CIS.
