On April 17th, the National Library hosted events timed to the World Book and Copyright Day which is observed on April 23rd.


A training seminar “Copyriht and allied rights: implementation in libraries of the Republic of Belarus” was held at the library’s press center. Specialists of the National center for intellectual property Aleksey Buchurin and Andrei Luchenok acquainted listeners with the specificity of copyright and allied rights regulation, the functioning of a copyright team management system, and also answered questions arising in daily activity of employees of information establishments.

A cultural and educational event “Masters of the Belarusian word. Aleksey Dudarev” dedicated to writing of the known Belarusian writer and playwright took place in the gallery “Labyrinth”. Guests of the event had an opportunity to communicate with author Aleksey Dudarev, learn more about his life and creativity, and to watch fragments from his plays.

The author’s plays, short stories, fairytales, scripts and other worls are kept in the stocks of the National Library of Belarus.

As part of the event, author Aleksey Dudarev signed a copyright treaty with the electronic library of the National Library of Belarus.

Within the bounds of the event visitors could view a book exhibition presenting Aleksey Dudarev’s collections and single stories.

We present the updated virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region": on the 205th anniversary of the composer's birth

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
