On March 22, the National Library Virtual Reading Room hosted a seminar titled "RUKONT Electronic library for Education, Culture, and Science" as part of a series of its activities.

The RUKONT electronic library is a cross–industry system that contains more than 590,000 documents from both leading and regional publishers in Russia: periodicals, regional digital resources, monographs, including educational and scientific publications of major Russian universities, etc.

Mikhail Degtyarev, director general of the Central libraries’ collector "BIBKOM", was the seminar’s invited expert was. He gave the audience an overview of the resource and described its features.

The participants got acquainted with the book and periodicals presented on the RUKONT platform. Special attention was paid to the publishing house "Sovetski Sport", which specializes in physical culture and sports, and the publishing house "Kolos-s", which specializes in the field of agriculture.

The event was held in a mixed format. It was attended by more than 30 specialists from public and scientific libraries, libraries of institutions of higher and secondary special education, information centers of our country.

The Virtual reading room is open for cooperation with all interested organizations of our country in order to connect to the silenced databases and provide training in working with them.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
