2013 – The Year of Thrift

On November 29, 2012, the President of the Republic of Belarus A. Lukashenko signed Decree № 537 "On proclamation of 2013 as the Year of Thrift".

By Resolution of December 29, 2012 № 1253 the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus approved the Republican Agenda for 2013 as the Year of Thrift.

The Year of Thrift is a logical continuation of realization in the current conditions of the Directive of the President of the Republic of Belarus of June 14, 2007 № 3 "Economy and thrift – the main factors of economic security in the state".

The National Library of Belarus offers the thematic reading list (books and articles 2007–2012 from its stocks).

In 2013, we observed the 130th anniversary of the birth of the pioneer of adventure, popular scientific and educational genres in Belarusian children literature Yanka Maur (Ivan Fedorov). On this occasion the Library prepared the information resource A virtual journey with Yanka Maur, the book exhibition The wizard of childhood, and also the literary soiree  dedicated to the writer’s life and career.
