On June 6, the Atrium Gallery (3rd floor) hosted the opening of the exhibition "Faces of Pakistan", dedicated to the Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Pakistan is a multiethnic, multicultural and multilingual country. Its traditions are a complex interweaving of thousands of years of history and innovative modern elements, original cultures, customs of dozens of nationalities inhabiting the country. The culture of Pakistan is characterized by a polyphony of styles, depth and subtle symbolism, which is expressively traced in the images of the inhabitants of the country, as well as in the images of iconic architectural structures for its culture.

The exhibition presents the works of prominent Pakistani artists Imran Khan and Zeynep Khan, as well as famous photographers Adil Chishti and Asmar Hussain.

The exposition is complemented by traditional household items: ceramic vases, cutlery, napkins, miniature sculptures, products made of onyx, wood, copper, camel leather, hand-embroidered.
Watercolor, painting, photography, decorative art provide an opportunity to walk through the streets of an exotic country, communicate through a distance with its famous artists, photographers, be impressed by their findings and conclusions, look at, admire a series of portraits of Pakistan residents, feel the diversity, depth of their everyday culture, special loyalty to traditions... The exhibition creates a modern portrait of Pakistan.

The opening ceremony was attended by Vadzim Hihin, Director General of the National Library of Belarus, Sajjad Haider Khan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Belarus, Valery Gromada, First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, artists Imran Khan and Zaineb Khan.

The warm atmosphere of the event was given by musical performances by Tatiana Kremis, Andrei Belko, and the violin duo Neringa and Diana.

The exhibition is organized by the National Library of Belarus and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the Republic of Belarus.

You can admire the distinctive culture of Pakistan until June 28, 2023.

The completion date can be changed.

Admission is by the library card or by the social and cultural centre ticket.
The working hours of the exhibition correspond to the working hours of the library.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
