The exhibition of Oleg Yahnin’s graphical works opened in the gallery "Labyrinth" (3rd floor) on April 19.


The National Library of Belarus along with the gallery of graphic arts "Book Salon" with the support of the fund "Graphic Arts" presented the exhibition.

The master of drawing and graphic arts, distinguished artist of Russia, professor Oleg Yahnin is an author and supervisor of international projects, including the International triennial of graphic arts in Saint-Petersburg.

The artist participated in 500 exhibitions in Russia and abroad (Germany, France, China, etc.), nearly 70 personal exhibitions. His pictures and illustrations decorate art galleries of many countries, including the State Tretyakov gallery. Oleg Yahnin has been given the professional book award "Book worm" for the development and promotion of graphical art, invaluable contribution to young artists upbringing. He was recognized as Man of the Year of Saint-Petersburg in 2008.

A long fruitful work of the artist is connected with children’s literary editions, such as Детгиз, Малыш, Детская литература, magazines Искорка, Костер, Мурзилка. The artist has cooperated with Petersburg publishing house "Vita Nova", specialized in small-circulation editions publishing the recent years. The novel One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey was published here with his illustrations. The artist has illustrated more than 50 books, including works of Chukovsky, Lindgren, Semenova, Graves, Hofmann.

Visitors got acquainted with unique handmade books with illustrations, made in the technique of etching, lithography, xylography, water color. The series "Seven Deadly Sins", "Slavic Fabled Beings", "Chinese Stratagems" present the exquisite technique of etching. His works to Saltykov-Shchedrin’s novels and the collection Spanish Novels of the Golden Age are made in the technique of xylography. Illustrations to Faust and Chekhov’s stories are made in the technique of lithography.

The master of pictorial and graphic arts Oleg Yahnin, the head of the Gallery and Exhibition Department of the National Library of Belarus Alexander Zimenko, the director of the fund "Graphic Arts" Ekaterina Druzhinina, the deputy chairman of the Union of Belarusian Artists on exhibition activities artists Leonid Khobotov delivered speeches at the event.

At the end of the event Ekaterina Druzhinina presented Oleg Yahnin’s books to the National Library of Belarus.

The exhibition lasts till May 12, 2016 in the galleries "Atrium" and "Labyrinth" (3rd floor).
