The Panorama Gallery hosted the opening of "The Green View" photo exhibition, which introduces viewers to the unique and diverse flora and fauna of the National Landscape Reserve "Hrodna Forest" on December 23.
Opening the event, Mr Alies Susha, Deputy Director General of the National Library of Belarus, noted that the main purpose of the exhibition was to draw attention to the nature conservation area, to encourage viewers to cherish and respect the natural heritage of Belarus, and to give them an opportunity to admire it.
Mr Siarhiej Kaliada, Deputy Head of the National Tourist and Sports Union and coordinator of "The Green View" project, spoke about the history of the project and the results of the fruitful expedition along the rivers of the Hrodna Forest.
Mr Siarhiej Plytkievich, journalist, photographer, author of photo albums and reference books about Belarus, director of the National Foundation for Tourism Development and Wildlife Support "Planet without Borders", founder and director of the local lore publishing house "Riftur" talked about the expedition photo hunt and presented visual narratives showing the splendour of the Belarusian nature.
For decades, visitor access to one of the most ecologically clean places in Belarus – the Hrodna Forest – was restricted, so some plant and animal species can only be found and protected there.
The pictures show animals listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus - white-tailed eagle, snake eagle, great white heron, black stork, grey crane, European lynx, badger, etc, incredible macro shots of the smallest inhabitants of the local fauna, forest and meadow ecosystems, wonderful bird's-eye views of the spectacular panoramas of the Nioman River and its tributaries, the Chornaja Hancha, Astashanka and Lasasianka, and footage of the Augustow Canal.
Their work impresses with its vividness, richness of colours and authenticity of the moments captured, the scale of the panoramas and the diversity of the landscapes. Beautiful examples of photo art, landmarks in the country's environmental life, objects and heroes – rare animals and birds – reveal the beauty and richness of the Belarusian nature.
The exhibition will be on show at the Panorama Gallery (22nd floor) until March 20, 2022.
The end date is subject to change.
A visit to the exposition is included in the cost of the Observation Deck ticket.
