On March 5th–30th, in the Belarusian literature reading room (room 205) there runs an exhibition “A calling for literature” devoted to the 80th anniversary of Seraphim Andreyuk.
Seraphim Andreyuk, the literary critic, Candidate of Philology and laureate of the Literary Prize named after I. Melezh, has worked for long in the field of Belarusian literary criticism. The result of his fruitful work and his great contribution to the study of Belarusian literature are the books “Жыццё. Літаратура. Героі” / “Life. Literature. Heroes” (1973), “Вывяраючы жыццём” / “Testing by Life” (1976), “На стрыжні часу” / “On the Axis of Time” (1978), “Традыцыі і сучаснасць” / “Traditions and Present Day” (1981), “Жыць чалавекам” / “To Be a Human” (1983), “А жыццё – вышэй за ўсё” / “Life is Above All” (1992), “Пісьменнікі. Кнігі” / “Writers. Books” (1997).
Seraphim Andreyuk is a recognized researcher of life and creative activity of writers І. Ptashnikov, B. Sachenko, І. Melezh, one of authors of “Гісторыі беларускай літаратуры ХХ стагоддзя” / “The History of Belarusian Literature of the 20th century” in 4 vol. (1999–2003), editor of papers on literary criticism, author of publications in numerous collections and literary journals “Rodnaye slova”, “Polymya”, “Neman” .
The exhibition presents books, articles and materials reflecting the researcher’s point of view concerning modern literary process and its creators. The exposition consists of four thematic sections: “Literary allotment of Seraphim Andreyuk”, “Seraphim Andreyuk as an editor”, “Creators’ course of life”, “The words of respect and recognition”. It presents separate editions of Seraphim Andreyuk’s scientific papers, volumes of series “Belarusian Book Collection” of the Institute named after Yanka Kupala of the Nationa Academy of Sciences of Belarus dedicated to writers T. Gartny, K. Krapiva, І. Melezh, Y. Bryl with introductory articles and commentaries by Seraphim Andreyuk, and also books published under his editorship etc.
