An exhibition “The book honor of Belarus” timed to the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book-printing runs in the library (2nd floor, circular corridor), from 13 July to 14 November.
The ancestors left for us the rich book heritage, which became the foundation for the modern book culture of Belarus. Today the book is still the most important phenomenon of Belarusian culture. Each year we celebrate the anniversaries of the Belarusian writers; the Belarusian book is highly appreciated by professionals at the international competitions.
The offered book exhibition presents about 100 documents: encyclopedias and scientific editions on the history of the Belarusian book, facsimile editions of the manuscripts The Turov Gospel, The Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, The Barkulabovo Chronicle, The Slavic Language Primer, and also the facsimile edition The Book Heritage of Francysk Skaryna.
The exhibition features the fundamental study The Belarusians of the outstanding philologist and Slavonic scholar, founder of the Belarusian linguistics and literary criticism, ethnographer, bibliographer and folklorist Jaǔchim Karski.
The book series The Gold Collection of Belarusian Literature acquaints the reader with both the classics of Belarusian literature and little-known masterpieces of domestic written heritage, first published in the modern Belarusian language.
Also the exhibition presents the modern editions of Pan Tadeusz by Adam Mickiewicz, Pinskaja Šliachta by Vincent Dunin-Marcynkievič, Szlachcic Zawalnia by Jan Barščeǔski, the collections of verses Dudka bielaruskaja by Francišak Bahuševič and Vjanok by Maksim Bahdanovič, the poem Novaja ziamlia by Jakub Kolas and many other literary works which make the history of Belarusian national literature.
At the exhibition visitors will take a journey to the history of the Belarusian literature and become familiarized with the samples of book heritage which are the true treasure and honor of our land.
