From March 18th to April 18th, the exhibition “The tireless investigator” timed to the 70th anniversary of the Belarusian journalist and researcher of local history Arkadz Padlipski runs in the Belarusian literature reading room (No. 205).
The subject of Arkadz Padlipski’s scientific interests are the history of Vitebsk of the XIX – beg. XX century, the history of printing and collecting in Belarus, as well as the activities of persons connected with Vitebsk. He is the author and co-author of more than 40 books, albums, brochures, and a number of articles in the Belorussian Soviet Encyclopedia, Belarusian Encyclopedia, Encyclopedia of the History of Belarus, Encyclopedia of Literature and Art of Belarus, the encyclopedia Nature of Belarus.
The exhibition presents the author’s books The Vitebsk Alexander’s Gymnasium (1808–1918) (1994), The Book in Vitebsk (1999), The Periodicals of Vitebsk (2001), The Guide to Jewish Sites of Vitebsk (2011), The Heroic City of the Glorious Epoch (2013), The Jewish Addresses of Vitebsk (2013), The Vitebsk Chimes (2015), I the Skies over Vitebsk (2015), and also his articles published in Belarusian magazines Bielarus, Polymja, Nioman etc.
Arkadz Padlipski has played a significant role in restoring the memory of Marc Chagall, Y. Pen, U. Adam, local historians A. Sapunoǔ, M. Nikifaroǔski, U. Stukalič, H. Teadarovič and others. Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to get acquainted with Arkadz Padlipski’s books dedicated to the biographies of these prominent persons.
