Poems "Pohonia" (A pursuit), "Slutskiya tkachihi" (The Weaver-Women of Sluck), "Ramans"(Romance) of famous writer Maxim Bogdanovich were published in 10 languages to the 120th anniversary of his birth.


The information was announced by Vladimir Gilep, president of the association "The Belarusian Cultural Fund", who was engaged in making the book, on the meeting of the republic committee on organizing events to poet’s anniversary.

The series includes three editions. Each of them has one of classic’s original works ("Pohonia" (A pursuit), "Sluzkiya tkachihi" (The Weaver-Women of Sluck), "Ramans" (Romance)). Poems translated into Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Lettish, German, Ukrainian, French, English and other languages. A preface of the book was written by Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus Pavel Latushko.

Ministry of Culture and M. Bogdanovich’s Literary Museum promoted to the publication of the book. Private Olshansk enterprise helped in financing. The circulation is 1 000 editions.

This book, published to poet's anniversary, is not the only one which has been appeared in print in foreign languages by assistance of Belarusian Cultural Fund. So, the story "The Wild Hunt of King Stakh" was published to the 80th anniversary of V. Korotkevich’s birth in four languages (Belarusian, Russian, Ukrainian, and English). The story has been already represented in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, and Estonia.

Vladimir Gilep has also expressed the hope that M. Bogdanovich’s poems will be available not only to people from our country. Therefore books will be represented in January 2012 to European ambassadors which are situated in Belarus.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

On April 25, the National Library of Belarus hosted the opening of the exhibition "Dreams about Belarus", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders and the 85th anniversary of the birth of People's Artist of Belarus Vasily Sharangovich.
