On October 12, 2007, in National Library of Belarus took place a press conference of Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Republic of Belarus for Russian regional mass media.
This meeting was the closing stage of Russian journalists press tour in Belarus.
At the beginning of the press conference Alexander Lukashenko said, such annual meetings by way of an open and direct dialogue have already become a good tradition. The President noted, that time the meeting took place not in the President’s residence, but in National Library which is a symbol of Belarus. The President said, such environment most closely corresponds to the character of relationships between Russia and Belarus developed in the last four years.
During the dialogue the President answered a number of questions concerning different issues of internal and foreign policy of Belarus. The main subject of the dialogue was relationships between Belarus and Russia. The President noted the foreign policy of the Republic of Belarus in the field of friendly relationships with Russia won’t undergo any changes. The President said, Belarus was and will undoubtedly stay the ally of Russia.
Alexander Lukashenko said, due to Russian Journalists’ articles, TV and radio reports millions Russians in all regions of Russia receive an impartial information on Belarusian people. The main object of such meetings is to fill a gap in information on Belarus.
