The library hosted a creative event “Baradulin in our hearts” on October 10, the event was dedicated to Ryhor Baradulin's 85th anniversary. Ryhor Baradulin is the national poet of Belarus, the creator whose name is among the outstanding Belarusian poets of all times.

The event began with a solemn reading of poetry performed by Yulia Shpilevskaya, theatre and film actress.

Valentina Baradulina, the poet's widow, became the guest of honour. Georgy Likhtarovich, a poet and photo artist, shared his memories and read a poem. Alies Kamotsky, a poet and composer, sang songs to the verses of Ryhor Baradulin.

The main participants in the meeting were young readers who took part in a competition dedicated to the poet. Schoolchildren from all over the country created posters with their favourite excerpts from Baradulin's works and wrote essays. They came to the event from Minsk, Brest, Mogilev, Rechitsa, Postavy and other cities and villages of Belarus together with their parents and teachers.

Young participants read poems, as well as their own essays, in which they revealed their understanding of the poet's words, their reflections and experiences. Favourite poems of Rygor Borodulin were recited by Aliena Semashko, Martin Lobashov and Arina Lenkovets (Minsk). Competitive essays were read by Nikolai Pekutko, Maria Koroleva and Maria Tsareva (Minsk), Nikita Semin (Brest), Arina Nakhvat and Teresa Baranova (Zastorinye village, Baranovichi district), Ilya Tolstyko (Bolshaya Svorotva village, Baranovichi district).

Alexander Susha, Deputy Director General – Director of Research and Publishing Activities, expressed admiration and gratitude to the participants, noting the importance of the competition, which contributed to the education of the young generation on the best examples of national literature and created opportunities for self-realization and development of the creative potential of the individual.

The event was hosted by Tatiana Sapego, the Curator of the Competition, Head of the Section for Research and Design of the National Library of Belarus.

The meeting ended with the solemn awarding of the participants of the competition with diplomas and a tour of the library.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
