On 2 November, Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky visited Berlin State Library.

During the visit, Roman Motulsky met the Director General of Berlin State Library, Barbara Schneider-Kempf, and donated to the library the facsimile edition The Book Heritage of Francysk Skaryna. Now residents and guests of Berlin have an opportunity to get acquainted with the valuable volumes, each of which is an accurate reproduction of the famous first printer’s books.

The event was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Germany, Denis Sidorenko, the counselor of the embassy, Alexey Barbuk, and the head of the Eastern Europe section of Berlin State Library, Olaf Hamann.

The return and safekeeping of cultural heritage is the priority of the National Library of Belarus. A striking example is the joint publishing project of the National Library and BelVEB Banc on the reconstruction of Francysk Skaryna’s book heritage.

Close partnership cooperation (2013–2017) resulted in the facsimile edition The Book Heritage of Francysk Skaryna, which has become a precious gift in the year of the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book-printing. The unique multivolume publication is not only the reflection of the history of printing, but also a valuable piece of Belarusian culture, a basis for historical, philological and cultural research.
