On 12 December, the National Library of Belarus hosted the Christmas Charity Book Ball and an auction of books which was organized by the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus.

Ball was opened by the speech of First Deputy Minister of Information of the Republic of Belarus Liliya Ananich in which she had thanked all those who had come on behalf of the Ministry of Information for the response and participation in the auction. "The idea to organize a gala charity book ball appeared in the Year of Book. We sure that the book does good, and on New Year’s eve it works wonders. Last year, all the money which had been gathered at that auction was given to the Gorodishche orphanage," she said.
