On 20 December, at 4 p.m. an anniversary event devoted to the 90th anniversary from the publication of the first issue of the magazine Polymya will be held in the gallery Labyrinth.


The event takes place in the framework of the Year of Book.

The magazine Polymya is the oldest literary, public and political publication of our country among which founders were well-known Belarusian writers Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas.

The anniversary event will be held with the participation of prominent figures in literature, art and culture, which are the members of the editorial board of the magazine Polymya – the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus V. Gnilomyedov and V. Gusakov, chairman of the Belarusian Writers’ Union Nikolai Cherginets, director, chief editor of the publishing house Zvyazda A. Karlyukevich, Belarusian writer, veteran of World War II A. Savitsky, chief editor of Polymya N. Metlitsky, as well as Director of the National Library of Belarus R. Motulsky, chairman of the Belarusian Children’s Fund, chief editor of the magazine Vyasyelka V. Lipsky, many mature and young authors of the magazine – researchers of literature, local historians, poets, novelists, playwrights, writers. The congratulations will be said by representatives of country’s government institutions, creative organizations, interested readers.

On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the magazine the National Library of Belarus prepared an exhibition "Polymya – stages of creative development" which reveals ideas of the magazine from its first issue released in 1922 to the recent one.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
