On December 14th, there took place a ceremony of donation of books from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the National Library of Belarus.


This event was held within the framework of the Year of Book in Belarus.

The ceremony of book donation is part of a cultural cooperation between Belarus and Iran aimed at the consolidation of traditional friendly relationships.

The Library’s collections have enriched with editions on the history, literature, philosophy and culture of Iran in Iranian, Russian and English languages. The book Museum has received as a gift the sculpture of great Persian scientist and poet Omar Khayyam – another valuable present from the Embassy of Iran.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Belarus Seyed Abdullah Hosseini and Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky made welcoming speeches at the event.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
