Information resources on quality control of food and industrial products were studied by students of the Belarusian State Technological University, specialty "physico-chemical methods and devices for product quality control", within the framework of bilateral cooperation between the educational institution and the National Library of Belarus.
Future experts visited the central auxiliary fund and the department of literature issuance of the general reading room, worked with the subject indexes of the abstract journal of the All-Russian Institute of Scientific and Technical Information (VINITI) in the department of reference and information services.
Students got acquainted with the library's collection of printed and electronic documents, acquired electronic library systems and databases (Znanium, BOOK.ru, University Library online, MARS, IVIS, EBD RGB), scientific resources of the test (American Physical Society, China National Knowledge Infrastructure) and open access (VINITI RAS, WorldCat, CYBERLENINKA, Google scholar, Elibrary.ru, Scilit, Dimensions).
The following opportunities were presented to the attention of the students: registration on the portal and platforms of purchased resources for remote ordering of printed documents and reading electronic online, selection and editing of literature lists for scientific papers, checking texts for borrowings in the "Anti-Plagiarism" and "Plagiarism Control" systems, remote delivery of digital copies of document fragments.
During the lesson, the future specialists got acquainted with the virtual reference services of the National Library – the "Legal Information Center" and the "Ask the Librarian" service, which provide free thematic references, as well as with the search algorithm in the archives of virtual bibliography services for completed queries.
The topics of the training sessions of the National Library of Belarus on the formation of the information culture of users are diverse: "Search for scientific information on the Internet", "Acquired databases", "Electronic resources created by the National Library", "Search basics: catalogs, bibliography, reference publications", "Search for information on electronic and card catalogs", "Resources and library services: briefly about the main thing", "Bibliography design for scientific work", "How to use resources without leaving home".
